The Library in a Nutshell:

  • Services for children and adults interested in children’s literature.
  • A lending room, a reading room and an internet reading room.
  • Collection Size - 16,300; subscribes to 11 titles of periodical publications.
  • Attendance order and borrowing conditions are stated in the Library Regulations.
  • Annually: visitors - 27,000, borrowings - 43,000.
  • The books are lent out under an automatic loan system.
  • 6 internet workstations for users, access to databases.Computer games. Instructions how to use internet and play computer games.(In Lithuanian only).
  • Performs information search at readers’ request.
  • The staff organize events for children. Traditional events: Children’s Book feasts, National library week, Pet Day in the Library, exhibitions and presentations of new books.
  • Hours of drawing, colouring, fairytales and games, information search lessons, library tours, stage performances, loud reading for children with disabilities, displays of children’s paintings and craft.
  • Summer programs for children.
  • Maintains relations with the specialized children's Day Care Centre; schools and kindergartens.
  • Offers services to children with disabilities.
